Featured Artist Speaker Series

Join us Tuesday, August 19th at 7pm at the Northwood Gallery for a presentation and conversation with Stephen Sharon, an abstract painter, musician and mixed media artist living in North Hero, VT.

Artist Statement

All of us carry emotions which nurture a deep sense of reality inside our being. What one person sees inside an abstract painting may be something completely different from what another sees. The longer one gets lost inside a painting, the stronger that communication becomes apparent, strengthened and understood between the artist and the viewer. My process is geared towards getting a full, abstract visual of how colors appear when they come up from under a surface of complimentary moods and color tones.

The common theme I hear from other artists and art collectors is that because my paintings are so full of color - including hot pops of neon - they 'demand a space to breathe'. All art requires some time to take in, to visually & mentally form a bond within the viewer and the painting. So, thank you for all of the time that you as viewers put in to see this art as what it is.

Stephen Sharon, born 1977, is an abstract painter, musician and mixed media artist living in North Hero, VT.  Stephen started painting 15 years ago when he decided to shift his focus into making visual art. His paintings involve a deep and heavy process of color and application. The movement in Stephen’s paintings are a dance of color springing across the canvas in directions that are playful and carefully thought out. He's been working with the very popular Foam Brewery company located in Burlington, VT using selected paintings for their beer can labels. Also in 2020, The Vermont Art Council based out of Montpelier named him an artist to look out for on their list of 7 up and coming artists and was featured in their magazine release and art show in their gallery in Montpelier. He sells his art work all over the country - from coast to coast and all spots in between. He’s also a 15 year member of The Green Door Art Studio and Gallery in The South End Art District of Burlington, VT.

Stephen earned a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts at Goddard College, located in Plainfield, VT, from 1998-2002.
